From Software Unveils Ninja Action Game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Last year during The Game Awards, From Software showcased a cryptic, bloody teaser for an upcoming game. The teaser ended with the phrase "Shadows Die Twice," leaving many to wonder if this was a preview or a sequel to Bloodborne or something new.  Today, we got our answer at Microsoft's E3 press conference, where From Software revealed  with a trailer that the game was called Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and focused on a ninja protecting a small child.

The combat seems heavily inspired by From Software's Souls series, but there also appear to be new features and an aesthetic that sets itself apart.

A beautiful, lush feudal-Japan setting steals the show – as does the unnamed main character's prosthetic arm. It functions much like the trick weapons from Bloodborne, with the main character grappling to various places and using an axe attachment to chop through enemies' defenses.

Verticality and stealth also seem to play a huge role, with our character using his grappling hook to plan out tactical options and hunt foes from the shadows. The brief trailer also showcased a massive snake enemy that our hero had to evade on a bridge.

We learned no details about the hero's name or the child he's protecting. We imagine more details about Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice  will follow during the course of E3 and will provide them when they do show up, so check back in the near future for more information about From Software's latest.
