Pokémon Go Players Have Walked More Than 8.7 Billion Kilometers Collectively

Niantic released some astounding statistics today for Pokémon Go, detailing that as of December 7, players have collectively walked more than 8.7 billion kilometers and have caught 88 billion Pokémon.

Niantic says that 8.7 billion kilometers equals to "200,000 trips around Earth" and that "a commercial jetliner would take more than 1,000 years to cover the same distance." As for the amount of Pokémon, Niantic says that roughly 533 million are caught per day. You can check out the video below or visit Niantic's blog to read the original post.

Our Take
I haven't played Pokémon Go in months, but there's no denying that it has been a fascinating phenomenon that peaked in popularity this summer. These numbers are further proof of just how big of an impact it's had.
