Blizzard Announces StarCraft Remastered, Coming This Summer

Blizzard has announced that it is remastering StarCraft, the popular sci-fi real-time strategy game. The remaster will feature a graphical overhaul with 4K ultra HD, along with updated audio and matchmaking support.

Aside from the touch ups, StarCraft Remastered will include all the same content as what's found in both the 1998 original and its expansion, Brood War. You can check out the announcement trailer below.

Blizzard says that the updated graphics will also see new illustrations to "enhance storytelling" during campaign missions, and that cloud saves will be introduced for campaign progress, custom-made maps, keybinds, and replays. StarCraft Remastered will feature full connectivity to Blizzard's online network, and can be played in thirteen languages.

Blizzard also revealed that later this week, Update 1.18 for StarCraft: Brood War will release, which includes bug fixes and improvements such as adding an observer mode and being able to rebind keys. Once the update is live, StarCraft Anthology, which includes the original and Brood War, will be free to download.

StarCraft Remastered is expected to release this summer for PC and Mac.
