Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is out today, and it's an impressive feat of both single and multiplayer according to Game Informer's own Dan Tack. Unfortunately, it may be harder to find people to play a few rounds with if you bought the PC version.
According to the official Activision FAQ for the game, the Windows 10 Store and Steam versions of the game will only allow users to play with people who have bought that version. The same applies to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.
The decision to split the PC userbase seems to be Activison's, since, speaking to Windows Central, a Microsoft spokesperson said, "We support cross-play between devices and platforms for partners who want to enable it."

Our Take
Splitting the userbase of a multiplayer title is always a bad idea, since it gives groups of players who want to play with each other fewer options. Here's hoping Activision unites the two playerbases soon.
