Bungie has previously announced various components coming to its December event, The Dawning, but the nitty-gritty of the smaller stuff has remained a mystery. With the update hitting today, the developer has released the full patch notes.
In addition to new quests, strike scoring, and the return of the Sparrow Racing League, this update brings changes to Xûr, the Eververse, and more. Xûr's inventory will once again include exotic shards to help you with upgrading your favorite weapons and armor, while the Eververse will introduce additional emotes and a new Treasures of the Dawning system. This system lets players earn new Sparrows, Ornaments, Horns, Armor, and Consumables. Players can earn one free treasure each time they complete their first weekly Heroic.
The Dawning also brings with it a new Silver Dust store that lets you get new exotic weapon ornaments. Presumably because of this new store, Xûr will be stopping his sales of exotic weapon ornaments.
One small annoyance that has worn on players since the initial launch of Destiny has been how Uncommon (green) engrams have to take up engram inventory space until you head back to the Tower. Now, if you're level 40, those green engrams will automatically convert to weapon and armor materials upon pickup.
To this point, skeleton key drops have been few and far between. While they will still be far from common, the drop rate is getting a slight bump.
Also worth noting is that this update does not appear to contain any balance pass on classes or weapons. If you want to dive even deeper into what this patch brings, you can read the full notes over at Bungie.net.
