Today Ubisoft released a teaser trailer announcing Assassin's Creed Rebellion, a new free-to-play strategy RPG for Android and iOS devices that brings the series back to the 15th century and introduces an interesting new art style.

The new game takes place in Spain during the Inquisition, and tasks you with building your own Assassin Brotherhood to take on missions against the Templars. Over the course of the game you build up a fortress that attracts a roster of more than 40 Assassins, some of whom are familiar, like Ezio, Aguilar, Shao Jun, Claudia, and Machiavelli. Sending teams of three out on missions nets you crafting materials, improves your Assassins, and levels up your Brotherhood, which allows you to unlock new rooms for your fortress.
One interesting tidbit is that there's a story conceit for why all of these Assassins can be controlled simultaneously. There's a "new version of the Animus that merges the memories of several Assassins together."
Assassin's Creed Rebellion is set to come out sometime "soon" on Android and iOS devices. You can read more about the game on the Ubisoft Blog.
