Leading up to today’s Pokémon Go Fest in Chicago’s Grant Park, Niantic teased the possibility of specific Pokémon species migrating to Grant Park for the first time. The image that accompanied the tease was of Heracross, a beast that was only available in Latin America, as well as parts of Florida and Texas.
Heracross is one of the common creatures found at Pokémon Go Fest, but isn’t the only new face in this area. We are also seeing mass migrations of Unown, the rarest Pokémon currently in the game.
These regional-based Pokémon will only be available in Grant Park for today, and will likely retreat to their rare status when the event ends. I'm currently in Grant Park for the Fest, but I have not seen Unown yet, mostly because Pokémon Go has been unplayable. The app won't stay open for more than 15 seconds before crashing. I have been able to spin just one stop, and haven't been able to catch anything. People in the fest are not happy at the moment. Here's hoping Niantic figures out a solution soon.
