Final Fantasy IX For PlayStation 4 Rated By European Ratings Board

The Pan European Game Information (PEGI) Board has produced a listing for Final Fantasy IX on PlayStation 4.

This listing, assuming it is accurate, is more than likely for a port of the PC version to the PS4, analogous to when Final Fantasy VII was released and announced at Sony's PSX conference in 2015. If the rating is appearing publicly now, then Tokyo Games Show is a good bet for a similar announcement and release schedule.

Originally released in 2000, Final Fantasy IX was part of a trio of Final Fantasy game announcements, revealed alongside Final Fantasy X and XI and heralded as the series throwback, Final Fantasy IX was filled with references to older games in the series. It is also one of the most well-loved Final Fantasy titles, partly due to its simple and heart-warming story helping cement it as a relic stuck in time compared to the series more modern cyber-hybrid aesthetic.

Our Take
It remains to be seen if the listing materializes, but no one has ever lost money betting against Square-Enix porting games.
