Square-Enix has decided to go ahead and make Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, their free-to-play mobile RPG, into a full-blown 3D Final Fantasy game for consoles.
The video trailer shows the sprite-based game being turned into a 3D title in battles and then a CG story trailer showing off the characters and villains clashing. You can check out the trailer below and marvel at how much money Square-Enix will spend on an April Fool's Day joke of a thing that looks legitimately cool but does not exist.

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, as a free-to-play mobile sprite-based RPG, is available now on iOS and Android. As the trailer says, beware of April Fool's Day.
Our Take
This one hurts, because this looks like exactly the kind of thing I'd want on the iPad or Switch or something. I've heard some interesting things about Brave Exvius, but its free-to-play model has always turned me off and there have been some real horror stories about people falling into addiction cycles with the game. A microtransaction-free version of the game with PS2-era models and better anti-aliasing and lighting would be up my alley.
