Monster Hunter: World Sets Series Record For Copies Shipped

Monster Hunter: World is already a critical success, and Capcom is betting big on its sales as well. The company has announced that it has already shipped five million copies of the game worldwide in the three days since its release, breaking a series record.

Those five million shipped are a good start. To put the figure in some perspective, Capcom says the series has sold more than 45 million copies worldwide since it debuted in 2004.

Our Take
Shipped numbers are interesting to a point, but I'd like to know how many of those copies sold over the weekend before joining in on the confetti tossing. I'd also like to hear how many people downloaded the game from their consoles, too, since that's a figure that the five million can't account for.
