Ronda Rousey Staying In EA Sports UFC 3 Despite WWE Contract

Despite announcing her move to become a full-time professional wrestler with the WWE last night, Ronda Rousey will remain in UFC 3 for the time being, an EA Sports representative confirmed to us.

Rousey, at one point the most dominant champion and biggest draw in the UFC, shared the cover of EA Sports' UFC 2 with Conor McGregor. Rousey lost her bantamweight belt to Holly Holm in November 2015, and hasn't fought since her comeback loss against champion Amanda Nunes in 2016. Rousey is currently the ninth-ranked women's bantamweight in the UFC according the official UFC rankings.

In 2016, WWE superstar and former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar returned to the Octagon for a bout with Mark Hunt. However, Lesnar was not added to the roster of UFC 2, which released a few months earlier, presumably because of licensing complications with his WWE contract.

At the time of this writing, it's unknown if Rousey will be added to WWE 2K18. We've contacted a representative for the game and will update this story if needed.

UFC 3 launches this Friday, February 2 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Stay tuned for our review, but in the meantime, you can check out our early impressions here.

Our Take
I was interested in how this would play since the game isn't officially out yet. It still isn't out of the question that she could be patched out of the game at some point in the future should her contract allow the WWE to do so, but for now she's safely in UFC 3.
