Dates for this year's QuakeCon have been announced, with the event taking place August 24-27 in Dallas, TX. The event is open to the public and admission is free. As one of the largest and longstanding LAN parties in the US, QuakeCon has also upped the ante by providing news, announcements, and features for upcoming Bethesda titles. Expect to see plenty of some of their upcoming games (especially Quake Champions) at QuakeCon.
Our Take
Giant LAN parties are somewhat of a relic of PC's past before we could just play on great connections all the time, dragging around huge towers to play Quake, Age of Empires, and more in rooms full of friends. I mean, it sure beat playing on 56k dialup when Mom could ruin everything by calling up one of the neighbors. QuakeCon and other large LAN events are an awesome reminder of PC gaming history and are awesome, and I'm quite certain we'll be inundated with announcements, trailers, and sneak peeks for upcoming Bethesda games as well. These events are usually a ton of fun and I love going to them, it's always really important to not spill your Big Gulp or plate of chicken tendies when you get hit with a quad-damage in the face, though.
