Reader Discussion: What Game Would Be Better With Less Interactivity?

Some of my favorite games of all times are incredibly rich in systems, interactions, and diverse options for seeing how a game plays out. Sometimes, though, I just want to sit back, relax, and enjoy a story.

Although some gaming fans deride "walking simulators" for not giving the player much to do, I often feel there are times when a little less gameplay could go a long way. Case in point: I'm currently making my way through Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, and while I haven't lost interest in the combat quite yet, other parts of it seem unnecessary. I get that with games the medium is often the message, but so far, the puzzles where I have to line up parts of the environment with certain shapes on-screen don't feel like they add anything to the story, and I don't find them very fun on their own. It feels like busywork, and I suspect I'll feel the same way about combat after a while. Part of me definitely wishes the game felt less inclined to put video gamey obstacles in your way and instead focus on crafting an interesting world that tells a great story.

So, turning the question over to you all: What game do you think could do with less interactivity? Did BioShock: Infinite's gunplay turn you off of an otherwise fantastic world and story? Would you prefer to see GTA's story without having to drive and shoot so dang much? Let us know in the comments.
