We usually headline and intro Weekend Warrior calling out how a lot of people are doing the same thing with their annual 48-hour respite, but that's just not the case this weekend. Some people are in Germany, some people are playing Madden, others are mowing their lawn. I guess what I am trying to say is that we're all different people with separate lives.
Joe Juba (@Joejuba) – I am halfway through Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, so I’m planning to finish that off this weekend. I’ve also had a craving to return to a couple old games: Stardew Valley and Final Fantasy XV. I put dozens of hours into both of them when they came out, but they’ve both seen significant updates, so I want to see what’s changed.
Jeff Cork (@gijeff) – Look, here’s the deal: I’m in Germany right now for Gamescom, but I’m heading home soon. I didn’t bring my Switch with me, because there was only enough room for it or socks, and I decided to keep my feet happy. So I’ll probably play a bunch of match-three games on the flight because dammit I still love that genre. I’ll pretend that I’m playing Mario Kart or something if that makes it better? Mostly though, it’s going to be a real-world adventure game where I have to travel by train solo from one foreign country to another and I don’t really know how any of it works and I can’t read here and oh god I can’t do a quicksave and experiment and I might lose all of my progress man I wish I hadn’t started thinking about this HAVE A NICE WEEKEND, FRIENDS!
Javy Gwaltney (@HurdyivIV) – I'm in Germany! I'm also playing Sonic Mania. It's pretty good.
Andrew Reiner (@Andrew_Reiner) – I'm at QuakeCon checking out the latest lineup of games from Bethesda. My trip started with an hour of The Evil Within 2, and as you read this, I'll likely either be playing Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus or Dishonored: Death of the Outsider. When I have downtime, I'm playing more of Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle.
Matt Kato (@MattKato) – It's Madden release weekend, which means it's time to fire up the Home Franchise Excel document and start mapping out my home CFM team – that's the kind of onscreen excitement that developer EA Tiburon just never tells you about. Seriously though, there's a perverse joy there that I'm sure some of you out there understand. I'll also be firing up Everybody's Golf, which is always a good time. A game like that, which used to be almost yearly, you never ask for, but man do you miss it when you don't have it. Good to see it finally on the PS4!
Leo Vader (@leovader) – I’ll be playing Agents of Mayhem and getting caught up on Twin Peaks! Thanks for asking, Kyle. You know those mean old interns never asked me for Weekend Warrior? I was here for two months of their term and they never asked me what I was doing on the weekend. Maybe they never got my email address, I guess. But they should have asked, right? Just hurt a little bit is all. What do you think, Kyle?
[Editor's note: I don't understand why you're yelling at me about this.]
Ben Hanson (@yozetty) – This weekend I’m going to the second Dan Ryckert wedding this summer alone. I believe it’s to the same wonderful lady or something. I’ll probably play more Pokémon Black on the plane. Oh, and I’m hoping to find time tonight to play more Distrust on Steam, it’s a survival-sim based on The Thing, which is one of my favorite movies of all time. Have a good weekend!
Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard) – I beat Undertale on Vita. I just finished Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. What else is there, really? I guess I will mow the lawn.
Jeff Marchiafava (@GIJeffM) – I once again find myself hopelessly obsessed with Diablo III, so whatever gaming time I get in this weekend will be devoted to faithfully serving the Dark Lord. Or am I supposed to be fighting him? Look, I’ve played a LOT of Diablo III, but I tend to skip through the cutscenes in order to get back to looting glorious treasures. I’m sure whatever my role is I’m just doing what needs to be done, right?
