Daybreak Games' Everquest Spinoff Landmark Is Already Closing

Landmark was originally the sandbox component envisioned as an incubator for Everquest Next, but after Sony sold Daybreak Games (previously Sony Online Entertainment), the studio canceled EverQuest Next. Now, Daybreak is shutting down Landmark as well.

According to a blog post on the game’s official site, Daybreak will close Landmark’s game servers on February 21 at 4:00pm PST. Effective immediately, Player Studio items will no longer be available for listing or for purchase, and new players will no longer be able to purchase Landmark. Currently, we don't know if Daybreak is working on any new projects to take the place of Landmark, but the studio will continue to manage its stable of online titles, which includes H1Z1, PlanetSide 2, and EverQuest II.

Our Take
Landmark only officially released on June 10 of last year, so it's sad to see that Daybreak is already shuttering the experimental online game. Hopefully, fans will be able to make the most of the time they have left.
