The asymmetric, multiplayer survival horror game Friday The 13th launched just a couple days ago, but it's been rife with problems. Players struggled to get online and faced problems with the party system.
A detailed post from developer IllFonic was published on social media recently, outlining known problems. The reason that players often couldn't even log on was that the game's database was struggling to handle the popularity, with over 75,000 players trying to play in a short period of time.
"Few of us have slept since Thursday, but I wanted to take a moment to inform all of you as to what's going on with everything," writes IllFonic. "We're having global issues, on all platforms (PC/XB1/PS4)."
The post outlines several issues, including the inability to login, matchmaking issues, XP and other progressions not saving, DLC not working, glitches, and more. IllFonic addresses every problem in detail, explaining why it's happening, and what they're doing to change it. IllFonic mentions that for most of these issues, a patch is being tested and is planned to come out next week.

Our Take
For a multiplayer-only game, not even being unable to get online is a huge issue. While I haven't played yet myself, I've heard horror stories and the list of major problems have made the game nearly unplayable for some. Keeping fans in the loop about upcoming fixes is helpful, at least, and the small team is hard at work. It sounds like the launch was much more popular than IllFonic anticipated.
