Since its announcement back in 2008, Beyond Good & Evil 2 has spent the vast majority of its time in seclusion, with only brief public glimpses and executive comments confirming the game is still in development. Nearly a decade on, the game still hasn't had a proper reveal, and that's not about to change.
Fielding a question from a fan on an unrelated Instagram post, creator Michel Ancel said, "I'm not sure that E3 would be the best place to showcase BG&E2."
That news may be disheartening to fans of the cult franchise, but his statement also had hope in it: "We´re working on the game, so sometime this year you should hear about it!"
Instagram appears to be the go-to place for breaking Beyond Good & Evil 2 news. Last year, Ancel used the platform to explain why the game is taking so long to develop. Ancel currently divides his time between Beyond Good & Evil 2 and Wild, a project he started outside of Ubisoft with another studio, Wild Sheep.
Our Take
Seeing Ancel share a window of when we can expect some real news on the game is encouraging. We just have to hope the shot callers at Ubisoft agree with his assessment that it should be ready for a larger reveal this year.
