It has been a long, strange road for Mass Effect: Andromeda, EA's follow-up to the wildly successful Mass Effect trilogy. After the turbulent launch and band-aid patches to help fix the game after launch, fans were hoping for something more substantial for the game's single-player campaign and story. Bioware has officially confirmed, however, that all work on the single-player side of the game has ended.
In a blog post today, Bioware explained that their attention will now focus on the multiplayer part of the game and they plan to fill out the remaining story with other forms of media. This means that any DLC expansions for the story are now merely hypothetical and will not be coming to the game.
It's a bad of a sad, but not entirely unexpected end for Mass Effect: Andromeda, which had been the center of rumors and gossip for months over its poor performance and critical reception. Hopefully EA figures out a way to bring Mass Effect back in the same vein it was last generation, because this would be a poor way for it to go out.
