Shortly after Firewatch's initial release last February, we learned that the narrative-driven indie game sold 500,000 copies in its first month. Today, developer Campo Santo has announced that the game hit its next major milestone.
Before the end of 2016, Firewatch hit one million copies sold. The good news comes via a tweet from Campo Santo:
Sometime late last year we sold our one millionth copy of Firewatch. Thank you all so much! pic.twitter.com/7LSTqWuU8Q

Our Take
I think Firewatch is a memorable and unique experience worth checking out. Even though it left me wanting more in some ways, I'm glad I played it, and I'm happy to see that it's finding an audience.
