Visual Concepts Outlines MyTeam Changes Coming To NBA 2K18

We've heard all about how NBA 2K18 evolves, MyGM mode, the gameplay enhancements, and the inclusion of all-time teams for each NBA franchise. Now Visual Concepts is turning the information hose on the popular card collecting mode MyTeam.

In an in-depth blog post, associate producer Peter Cornforth revealed that the long-requested draft mode (similar to EA Sports' Draft Champions mode) debuts with NBA 2K18. This pack-driven experience gives you a bundle of random players, and tasks you with trying to build the best possible team for a competition. Using the coaching oriented system proficiency feature, you need to find which players best fit your coach's scheme to get the most out of your makeshift roster. Once your team is drafted, you compete in 5v5 games through four rounds of playoffs. Each round is best of seven, and each time you advance you have to rebuild your roster with a new deck of cards, or spend some of your earned VC to preserve some of your current players.

Super Max is the other major new mode coming to MyTeam, which adds a salary cap to roster building. Individual card salaries are determined by how much they are used, so if everyone is using a particular Kobe Bryant card, for instance, the price of using that card will go up. Once your roster is set you play a few games to determine your skill. The game uses that skill rating to place you in a player pool with others who have a similar skill level. As you play and win, you can earn your way up the talent brackets.

NBA 2K18 releases for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch on September 19.
